Ok so to sound totally dumb I have a scanning question. when scanning art with blue lines for the colorist what settings (scan mode/ pdi / etc) do you use to scan it? i've never delt with blue line art and I'm gonna scan this baby in and have the file colored as soon as it gets back home but not sure how to get rid of those blue lines. :)

Todd,

The way I get rid of the blue line is simple.

1) Open you file in Photoshop [It should be in RGB]
2) go to your Channels palette and select the BLUE channel [you'll notice the blue in the image drop out]
3) now go to your menu bar and select IMAGE>MODE>GRAYSCALE
4) form there I usually go to IMAGE>ADJUST>LEVELS [i'll darken my black and brighten my whites a bit and thats it]

Let me know if you have any question.

ok awesome. Tried that and it worked. thanx! :)
I just always thought there was a way to scan them out. I have a pretty large 12x18 scanner at my work that i usually scan my collection in for documentaation/insurance purposes but noone i work with has ever delt with blue line art and trying to get rid of bluelines so pretty much everyone i know was curious about it as well.
